A notary is a person who is authorized to witness the signing of important documents.

What does a Notary Public notarize?

A Notary Public notarizes any document where the identity of the signer must be verified. This process helps prevent creation of fraudulent documents.

The Notary Public will ask the signer for a valid picture I.D. issued by a Government, entity with their signature, and a brief description of the signer.

Things you may need.

Laws vary by state.  Some documents may require a witness. Keep in mind, in most cases, a notary cannot act as a witness.
